Today is National Voter Registration Day, and over the past six years, nearly 3 million US voters have registered on this day. At Glossier, we’re celebrating by encouraging everyone on our team and in our community to get registered and ready to vote.
As a brand that celebrates self expression and using your voice, voting and civic engagement more broadly have always felt especially close to our mission. We believe that one of the most impactful ways you can use your voice is by voting, and encouraging others to do the same, so we decided to make voter mobilization one of our core Glossier for Good initiatives. Earlier this year, we teamed up with IGNITE, a non-partisan organization dedicated to bringing political opportunity to young women, for a day focused on registering voters across our three stores in the U.S. We registered over 300 voters in person, signed hundreds of people up for reminders to vote, and had the privilege of seeing firsthand how passionate our community is about this important cause.
More recently, we’ve teamed up with When We All Vote, a non-partisan non-profit with a mission to increase participation in every election, to share resources and information around voter registration and civic engagement with our community. Through this partnership, we’ve launched a website (glossier.com/lets/vote) where anyone can access resources on how to register to vote, sign up for mail-in ballots, finding polling locations, and information about what measures are on your local ballot and the candidates running. We’re excited to share these resources with our community and hopefully build excitement around voting.
Some of you may have already seen the “I’m Voting” sticker we introduced earlier this summer — it’s included in all US orders through Election Day (pictured above!) with a link to our voter registration site on the back; we’re also including voter registration links and resources any time someone checks their order shipment status.
We know this is a cause that’s much bigger than Glossier, so we’ve also joined coalitions alongside other companies, including Time to Vote, the Civic Alliance, National Voter Registration Day, and Vote Early Day to ensure we are equipped with all the tools to promote voting with our community, and internally with our team. Some of our team members are taking time through our employee volunteer program, Smile Wave, to volunteer as poll workers, and our U.S. team will have Election Day off. We’re also encouraging our team to use that time, if possible, to volunteer in their communities.
Our When We All Vote page has everything you need to get started: share the link with friends, post a photo of your “I’m Voting” sticker, and tag us as you’re registering, signing up for reminders, and getting ready to vote. Your voice is your vote — join us by rallying friends and people in your communities to register and be ready to vote in the 2020 election.
